Our drain engineers were recently called-out to deal with a blocked grease trap at the Marriott Hotel in Westminster.

Arriving on-site our drain engineers found that the blocked grease trap had caused a flood in a back room. The floor had been flooded with grease and fat which had resulted in an obnoxious smell filling the adjoining communal corridor. Naturally, as a a hotel they were keen to resolve the problem with the blocked grease trap and get rid of the odour as quickly as possible and without causing any disruption to the day-to-day running of the hotel.

With years of experience dealing with the catering and hospitality industry, and in particularly with hotels and restaurants, our drain engineers were quick to asses the situation and decide on a plan of action. The first task for our drain engineers was to remove the grease and waste water from the grease trap by vacuum tanker. Once this was done they then removed the grease trap and setup temporary bypass connection for the pipework. This meant that the busy hotel kitchen would not be disrupted and it could retain full operational capacity whilst the works were completed.

The grease trap was then removed  and our drain engineers carried out a deep clean of the area, removing all deposits of grease and fat from the walls and flooring to make the room hygienically clean again. Once the deep clean was completed and the area had dried, the walls were repainted and a new resin floor was laid.

For good measure a new retaining wall was constructed to contain the grease and fat should there ever be a blockage in the future.

Our clients were delighted with the quick turnaround of the clean-up and remedial works to restore the area to a clean and hygienic state, and more importantly that there was no disruption to the operation of their kitchen facilities and staff. All in all a job very satisfactorily completed by our drain engineers.
